In 2019, the Victorian Department of Health conducted a comprehensive review of sexual health services in response to a sharp rise in gonorrhoea and infectious syphilis notifications, alongside the re-emergence of congenital syphilis as a public health concern. One of the key recommendations from this review was the adoption of a ‘Hub and Spoke’ model to strengthen the delivery of sexual health care across the state.
